A bag. A sculpture. A jewel. A work of art. A magic chest.
Abyssal is a collection of four fantastical fish.
The word "abyss" derives from the Greek, meaning "bottomless". At depths of over 5,000 metres, the ocean bed is in perpetual darkness and receives no daylight whatsoever.
But what would happen if the creatures from the abyss came into contact with sunlight? Abyssal is a metaphor for the transformation from darkness into light.
MITE MITE's first collection, Abyssal, takes its inspiration from Abstract Geometry, Suprematism, and Russian Constructivism to create unconventional pieces which go beyond fashion.
Consisting of over a hundred parts, each bag is produced using a leather which is the result of a 45-hour manufacturing process.
The designer, Anna Martí, based in Barcelona, conceived of a collection in which colour, the quality of the materials, the design, and the concept create pieces with their own unique personality.
MITE MITE was the brainchild of Anna Martí Represa. After training as an interior designer at the Elisava School in Barcelona, then as an industrial designer at Central Saint Martins, she worked for several years as an interior designer and publicist, before deciding to start out on her own as a product designer.
MITE MITE looks towards a dynamic future by creating a concept for the brand that includes luxury bags and accessories. Its debut collection, Abyssal, libertine and irreverent by nature, celebrates freedom, individualism, and craftsmanship.
